The Thinker Ruby Zoisite is commonly used to symbolize philosophy because of its profound pondering and contemplation attitude.
It was originally called The Poet and was conceived as part of The Gates of Hell, initially a commission (1880) for a pair of bronze doors to a planned museum of decorative arts in Paris. It is a best-known monumental work, first conceived circa 1880 – 1881 as a depiction of the poet Dante. The image evolved into a representation of all poets and creators.
This carving, portraying The Thinker Ruby Zoisite has been carved from ruby and zoisite, sourced from Tanzania.
